Before you subscribe
Am I better off buying the iPhone app?
If you own an iPhone, almost certainly yes. It's $5 once, it has widgets and notifications, and it never asks you for anything again. The subscription exists for people who can't run it: Android, Windows, a Chromebook, a locked-down work laptop.
Some people take a subscription anyway, on top of the app they've bought, to put something toward a student's tuition. That's a kind thing to do and I'm not going to pretend it isn't. But it buys you nothing you don't already have, so please don't feel any pressure.
Does my journal sync between my laptop and my phone?
No. The web apps keep everything in the browser you're using, which is why I can promise I never see it. Every app exports a JSON file you can import somewhere else, and that's the honest way to move a journal between devices.
What if I clear my browser data?
Your journal goes with it. Export a JSON backup now and then. It takes one click and lives in your downloads folder. I'll nudge you inside the app if it's been a while.
Is yearly actually cheaper?
Yes. It's $10 a year for one app instead of $12, and $30 for all five instead of $36. Roughly two months free either way. It also helps more than the difference suggests: card processing takes a fixed fee off every single charge, so twelve $1 payments lose a third of what you pay to fees, while one $10 payment loses almost nothing. If you're subscribing partly to support the work, yearly is the way to do it.
Can I change plans later?
Yes. Upgrade from one app to all five and Stripe charges you only the difference for the rest of the month. Downgrade and it takes effect at your next renewal.
How do I cancel?
Account page, "Manage billing", cancel. It takes about ten seconds and you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for.
Do you offer refunds?
The free trial is there so you don't need one. If something went wrong anyway, email [email protected] within 14 days and I'll sort it out.
